Students and staff have had a busy Spring term, but it was no less quiet over Autumn. We will be updating stories, images, audio and video documenting MC&MA’s start to the school year.

Record-breaking tree planting attempt

Manchester Creative and Media Academy’s Eco Club were part of a BBC initiative that saw over 230,000 trees planted around the UK in an hour.

MC&MA pupils and staff went to MC&MA (Boys) site in December in an attempt to break the world record of planting the most trees in a single hour in multiple locations.

The academy planted 31 trees, including holly and apple.

The record attempt was not successful, but MC&MA’s contribution to the 230,000 trees planted is extremely impressive.

Well done to everyone involved.

MC&MA student pits badminton wits against the best

MC&MA (Girls) student Aimee Cooke crossed swords – or rackets – with England badminton stars at the launch of the European Badminton Championships in December.

She was invited to the Triangle shopping centre in Manchester city centre to play with Chris Adcock and Gabby White at the event.

It took place to raise awareness of the championships, which will be taking place at the MEN arena in March.
