Starchaser's new eco-friendly rocket

This spectacular image taken by our Network Manager Brian Barnett is of the Starchaser Skybolt at Manchester Creative and Media Academy (Girls) last week.

Part of the Starchaser day held by MC&MA’s (Girls) Science department, Aim Higher and Manchester-based company Starchaser, the starship was mounted outside Shackliffe.

A representative from Starchaser Industries Ltd also held an exciting and interesting talk for year 9 and year 6’s from local primaries about space tourism and travel. It covered Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths within the National Curriculum.

It’s hoped that the rocket will pave the way towards greener space missions. The 5-metre eco-friendly rocket burns recycled polythene as fuel, producing a colourless, smokeless exhaust.

It is being flown later this year from Morecambe Bay.
