The talented performers of Manchester Creative and Media Academy (Girls) are warming up their vocal chords and getting their dancing shoes ready for their March show, The Sound of Musicals.

Over two evening performances, students are showcasing a production of scenes from much-loved musicals Annie, My Fair Lady and The Sound of Music.

Led by the Drama and Music departments, singers, dancers and actors from all year groups have been rehearsing since November.

The academy stages a yearly production but The Sound of Musicals is the first of its kind. At the rehearsals, music teacher Miss Bryant said: “Usually we do a show that follows one story, but this is a sample of three musicals.”

She added: “We have some really strong singers. They are really competent performers.

“It’s been a lot of fun for all of us.”

The Sound of Musicals promises to be “big and brilliant”, and from the sounds (no pun intended) of it, it’s a claim not to be sniffed at.
