Our students are enjoying a great way to start to their day – Manchester Creative and Media Academy style.
The all-new Breakfast Club is now up and running. It gives MC&MA (Boys) pupils from our Gifted and Talented and Aim Higher programmes the chance to eat a healthy breakfast, catch up with academy news and their friends, and enjoy the latest technology and exciting board games.
Fruit juice, waffles, yoghurt and fruit among other tasty treats are on offer, while games such as Chess, and Twister are available to play. The FLZ’s state-of-the-art computers can all be used, while Sky Sports is also screened too.
Mentoring sessions will be taking place after Easter at the club, which is held in the FLZ from 8.30 to 9.00 every morning.
Each year group has the chance to enjoy the Breakfast Club. The year group’s weekly turn at the Breakfast Club ascends from year seven to eleven as the week progresses.
Miss Butterworth, Data Manager, runs the Breakfast Club from Monday to Wednesday for years 7 to 9. Aim Higher mentor Miss Pears and Maths teacher Mr Baidoo supervise the year 10’s on Thursday and the year 11’s on Friday.
Miss Butterworth said the Breakfast Club is really popular with students.
She said: “The Breakfast Club has gone down really well.
“I run a puzzle club on Monday for Enrichment, and use the games from there, here. The boys seem to really enjoy it.”
Miss Butterworth added that, despite Breakfast Club taking place in form time, the boys who attend still get their register mark.
