A duo of talented MC&MA students will finish their school life on a high note at an awards ceremony hosted by Manchester’s Lord Mayor.

Year 11 pupils Emma Watson and Shawna Davies, from the girls’ site, have been nominated for the Manchester Educational Awards 2010.

They have been chosen for the award due to their commitment, effort and achievement throughout the past five years of their schooling.

Students from other schools in the Manchester area have also been selected for the prize.

The award ceremony will be held at Manchester Town Hall where all nominees will receive a certificate and gift voucher from the Lord Mayor, Councillor Mark Hackett.

Organisers of the June 30 event, Sir Richard Leese, the Lord Mayor, and Manchester City Council’s Children’s Services, asked for nominees to meet criteria including demonstration of co-operation, continuous effort and motivation among others.

While the Manchester Educational Awards will be the ultimate celebration of Emma and Shawna’s hard work, please praise them if you see them around the Academy – before they go on to an undoubtedly successful future.
