A group of year 7 students from Manchester Creative and Media Academy (MC&MA Girls) will get to enjoy an end-of-year treat after a transport charity has offered its services for free.
Money has been tight at the end of the year, but it hasn’t stopped Primary Model teacher Miss Brindle arranging a trip to Heaton Park with the help of Heywood New Heart Community Transport.
The local charity will take the group, which has students with Special Educational Needs and behavioural problems alongside vulnerable pupils, to one of the biggest municipal areas in Europe for the day. They will go on Thursday July 7.
For some of the students, the day will be a new experience. Miss Brindle said: “Some of our girls do not get these kinds of opportunities outside of school, and don’t even get the chance to go to the park.
She added: “I support them in all lessons every day and have a really good relationship with the girls.
“Thanks to Heywood New Heart Community Transport I can take the girls out, and I’m sure it will be an end-of-term trip they will not forget.”
