Manchester Creative and Media Academy (Girls) enjoyed some tasty treats when the Science department held a bake sale that took over £130 in the space of 25 minutes.

Teachers and technicians made cupcakes, biscuits and rice crispy cakes for the event, which raised a total of £134.40.

Alice Bird from 7AMD helped science staff to sell the cakes. Millionaire’s shortcake and iced fairy cakes were also on offer.

The MC&MA bake sale took place to raise money for a visit from The Bugman, an animal expert who tours schools with real-life insects, reptiles, amphibians and other species.

Students from local primary schools and year 7 all enjoyed his visit last year. Science teachers Miss Roczniak and Dr Garvey, who are jointly responsible for science primary links, decided to arrange another one for the end of Autumn term.

Dr Garvey said: “We can confidently book ‘The Bugman’ for the end of this term as a science reward for our many hard-working girls as we already have over half of what we need to raise.

“It put a massive smile on our faces!”

She added how they are planning to hold one more bake sale, hopefully before half term, to raise the remainder of the money.

Well done to everyone involved, and here’s to another successful MC&MA bake sale!
