Year 11 Specialised Diploma in Construction students were treated to an insight into life in the world of construction on 26th January 2011. Jason McKnight, Construction Manager for Bovis, the developer behind MCMA’s new iconic campus, gave an informative and entertaining take on life working for one of the world’s largest builders.
Having worked on projects ranging from the Manchester Law Courts, nicknamed the “Filing Cabinet” to developments around New York’s Central Park, Jason’s presentation kept the students’ hooked.
Jason highlighted the value of of work experience and explained that academic qualifications need to be backed by skills such as communication and teamwork. Year 11 Connor Meekle commented that the talk was “very informative” and that he was surprised by the range of jobs available within Bovis Lend Lease.
