MC&MA Boys were host to a number of very important people yesterday as the year 10 students practiced their interview skills in a mock interview, setup by Mrs Harrison. The students were joined by a number of employers and agencies including Aim Higher, Connexions, GMP, Motiv, MEEN, KPMG and Clive Memmott the Chief Executive of The Chamber of Commerce in Manchester. They generously volunteered their time to give our students an insight to the interview process giving them feedback on their skills for future interviews.
I spoke some of the students after their interviews, Lewis Wilbraham told me how he was nervous before his interview but it went really well and he talked about how, as a construction diploma student, he wants to follow a career in construction. He told me how Nagris Baseel talked about his grades, attendance and general school life. Giving him some valuable advice for future interviews. He said the whole experience has made him more confident for future interviews whether it is for college or a job.
Callum Jones learnt how he should embrace his features and use his natural bossy attitude to take on leadership roles.
Connor Murray felt his interview went really well and it helped him to focus on his chosen career path in performing arts.
It wasn’t only the year 10 students working hard yesterday, Mrs Harrison had two year 7 students as her secretaries for the day, Jake Jehu and Yao. They told me how they felt like they were on work experience and really enjoyed having the responsibilities they were given.
The mock interview day was a great success, giving the year 10’s and two years 7’s a very worthwhile experience.Well done boys.
