On Thursday 10th March Graham Stringer (MP) came in to MC&MA to speak to Mr Taylor’s Year 10 Citizenship class about the Robin Hood Tax Campaign.
Helen Isley from Oxfam came into MC&MA to help students prepare their presentations. Xiaoli Zhen and Princess Adegbite made an excellent 10 minute presentation on the Robin Hood Tax and delivered it to Mr Stringer, trying to convince him of its’ merits.
Melisa Harry also collected the signatures of many MCMA students and presented Mr Stringer with the petition showing their support for the RHTC. After the presentation, the girls entered into a debate with Mr Stringer over various political issues. It was a great experience for all, and goes to show that people in positions of power do listen and are interested in what young people have to say!
