Enactus are a groups of volunteer students from the University of Manchester; previously known as SIFE. Enactus is made up of many different universities doing projects worldwide to help improve communities and inspire people to become entrepreneurial. The project running at MCMA is called SPOT Finance. The objective of this is to teach young people about budgets, finance, affording university, writing CV’s and also helping them decide what to do after they finish college. The workshops are interactive and we want to help answer any questions the students have, whether it be related to finance or anything else. So far Enactus have only run one workshop for the Sixth Form class but hope to do many more, and impact as many pupils as possible.
The students of the sixth form enjoyed and learned a great deal from the student volunteers. They found the students ‘honest’ and ‘relatable’. Olivia Clancy said ‘The whole workshop has changed my mind about university; in a good way. It doesn’t seem as scary.’
