Creative Digital is one of the fastest growing sectors in the North West region. Manchester is the largest creative digital hub outside of London, creating 305,000 jobs across the North West of which 63,000 of these are in Greater Manchester.
There is a global opportunity in this sector from boutique business to remote working – digital technology is enabling a female entrepreneurial revolution.
On Thursday 7th March, in celebration of International Women’s Day, ‘Digital Teapot @ The Sharp Project’ invited 100 women from a variety of different backgrounds; colleges and job centres, career changers to mums re-entering the world of work to ask:
- What is the creative digital sector?
- What employment opportunities are available?
- How can I become part of it?
20 MCMA students were invited to the event. The media students got to talk to professional women in the digital business world and hear how they broke into the industry. With workshops and talks throughout the day the event was a great insight for the students and has opened up their eyes to the digital world right on their doorstep.
