Year 12 and 13 Health and Social Care students benefited today from a talk by Bradford University’s School of Health Studies.  The sixth formers, many of whom have aspirations to work as healthcare professionals got to find out the range of courses Bradford offers in the sector; including

  • Midwifery
  • Nursing
  • Radiography
  • Physiotherapy
  • Health Wellbeing & Social Care

Claire Pryke, Marketing and Recruitment Manager explained the NHS’s system of bursaries and how the various courses are funded.  Emma May, a current student nurse gave a unique perspective on her journey at Bradford, explaining how the mix of university study and work placements make up the degree.  Emma emphasised the high level of support she received whilst on placement from her mentor.

The presentation concluded with an insightful discussion on university applications and advice on writing personal statements. After the event the Sixth Formers were very positive about what they had heard as the comments testify:

“It was very informative”-Beth

“Good, I got to know more about the midwifery course”-Isha
