Manchester University played host to an inquisitive group of Year 9s last Thursday, who took part in the institution’s “Build Your Future Day”.  The day started with the pupils being led through a session in which the reasons for going to university were unpicked.   MCMA pupils came up with some good reasons, including better career prospects, higher potential earnings, along with making new friends and taking part in new activities.

Following this induction, the MCMA learners were then given the option to pick two of three workshops, which investigated the brain, chemical reactions and theology.  The activities gave an insight into the range of interesting courses on offer at university, especially those that don’t fit into traditional subject boundaries.

As the visit concluded, the verdict of the Year 9s was overwhelmingly positive and hopefully the experience of campus life will inspire them in their own studies.
