An interactive careers fair run by the Manchester College was held at MCMA this week, definitely put career planning firmly on the agenda of Year 10.
A range of academic disciplines and vocational areas were promoted to the students in what is set to be the first in a series of careers information and guidance events hosted at the academy.
The event offered something for all the MCMA learners, with practical activities in construction and hair & beauty used to flag up vocational learning while more traditional “market place” careers information stalls offered course details on subjects from information technology to science.
College staff also shared some pleasing news, highlighting the successes of former academy students who have gone on to thrive in professional occupations.
The event was well received by the Year 10s and many remained after the bell had gone at the end of the day. A few comments sum up the mood:
“I enjoyed the careers fair there was a variety of courses to talk about”
“It was great”
“I thought it was fun”
“I got quite a lot of information out of it”
“I thought the careers event was very useful and will help me make the right decisions in the future”
